Wegovy may increase the risk of thyroid tumors, including a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).
In animal studies, semaglutide caused thyroid tumors. It is not known whether it causes them in people.
Do not take Wegovy if:
- You or anyone in your family has ever had MTC.
- You have an endocrine condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
Tell your doctor right away if you notice a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing or shortness of breath.
