About Me

Alice Figueroa is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Dietitian Nutritionist,CDC Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coach, and cookbook author who is passionate about promoting universal access to nutrition support, health services, and wholesome foods for all segments of society. She is an award winning Natural Foods Chef recognized with a James Beard Foundation National Scholar Award and recently published the book Prediabetes Diet and Action Plan, a weight- inclusive cookbook for prediabetes management. She is dedicated to empowering the global community and her clients and patients to achieve their well-being through sustainable foods, mindful nutrition, health supportive cooking, and happy and intuitive eating. She serves as a nutrition expert and writer in leading publications including Time, The New York Times, Health, EatingWell, Shape, Well+Good, Univision, and EveryDay Health.

Her mission is to empower her patients to find food freedom, ditch chronic dieting, and heal their relationship with their bodies. Through the practices of mindful nutrition, integrative medical nutrition therapy, and intuitive eating, Alice is dedicated to supporting patients in the management of prediabetes, diabetes, PCOS, hormonal health, fertility, thyroid conditions, insulin resistance, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, and gastrointestinal disorders. She specializes in providing trauma-informed medical nutrition therapy to individuals healing from eating disorders /disordered eating while also managing other chronic conditions like diabetes and prediabetes.

Alice earned a Masters of International and Community Public Health from New York University, where she also completed her Dietetic and Nutrition credentials. She completed a Dietetic Medical Nutrition Therapy Internship through Queens College in NYC, where she specialized in management of infectious diseases and HIV/AID nutrition. She also holds an honors degree in International Relations with a focus on healthcare policy from Tulane University. She earned a Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Certificate on Measurement, Design, and Analysis Methods for Health Outcomes and a World Food Program Certificate on a Food Systems Approach to Food Security. Alice is the Duke Center for International Development Malnutrition Research and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Fellow and conducted research to address chronic pediatric malnutrition in underserved indigenous populations in Central America. As a Childbirth Educator, Alice is committed to nurturing a holistic approach to childbirth, prenatal care, and pediatric nutrition that champions both the physical and mental well-being of birthing people, mothers, infants, and children. Through her work in gestational diabetes and PCOS management, Alice hopes to improve health outcomes for mothers, birthing people and infants and reduce maternal mortality rates in at-risk populations.

She is dedicated to mindful movement and completed a Jivamukti Yoga and Meditation Teaching Certification, Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Course, and she is currently completing a Balanced Body Pilates Mat, Reformer, and Apparatus Comprehensive Instructor Training. Alice loves spending her days going on adventures in New York City looking for the perfect cup of coffee/matcha, searching for scrumptious food, blending green smoothies, cooking new recipes with her farmers market finds, and playing with her cats.
