About Me

I am a second-career Registered Dietitian with a background in community nutrition, food allergies, food intolerances, and a commitment to community health. My reasons for initially wanting to become a Dietitian are quite different then the reasons I am and continue to be a Dietitian now. Early in my Dietetics studies, I believed health and wellness was an individual choice not realizing that health and wellness is impacted by many other factors such as access to food, access to healthcare, mental health, chronic stress, multiple systems of oppression, and other factors that are not within an individual’s control. I have learned, and continue to learn, so much from folks in various spaces, but more specifically in social justice spaces. This has expanded my perspective of nutrition, health, and wellness, and shifted it to more of a community focus.

Weight-inclusive, anti-diet, and culturally affirming nutrition and wellness care is incredibly important to me. I don’t want to be just another professional in the health and wellness space who ignores an individual’s reality and lived experience. Especially when their experience is different from my own. I actively aim to do less harm as a human and a Registered Dietitian (who holds many privileges) by remaining curious, focusing on compassion, and continuing to be open to growth and discomfort. I want to meet you where you’re at right now, “try on” different strategies to find what works for you and support you in the ways you need it most. I look forward to collaborating with you!

Outside of work, I am focusing on being less productive, finding small moments of joy, spending time with my four-legged fur friends, and actively looking for a new hobby. (I am currently accepting all hobby suggestions!) The shift from seeing myself outside of my profession is a constant and worthwhile effort that is still, most definitely, a work in progress.
