About Me
Dana is a registered dietitian who has spent most of her 20+ year career in diabetes care. In 2018 she discovered intuitive eating and began the process of healing her own relationship with food and her body. Intuitive eating acknowledges that anti-fat bias is harmful and weight loss attempts distract from true health promotion. Dana is passionate about providing weight-neutral care and utilizing the principles of intuitive eating to support you in discovering greater well-being and a more wholistic approach to health. As a dietitian in a larger body Dana hopes to provide a safe space for people of all sizes and to help normalize that all bodies are deserving of improved health just as they are. For those with diabetes and cardiovascular disease she continues to provide medical nutrition therapy as well as education and counseling on all aspects of diabetes self-management and heart health. Since she works through a weight-neutral lens she will help you to manage your blood sugar and lipid levels without focusing on weight loss or restrictive eating plans.
Dana believes that you are the expert in the patient-provider relationship. Her role is to listen with warmth and respect and provide guidance and information to support your well-being and health. Dana graduated with her Bachelor of Science from Kalamazoo College and completed her master’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health where she studied both Human Nutrition and Health Behavior/Health Education. She is a registered dietitian and a licensed dietitian nutritionist with additional certifications in diabetes care and intuitive eating. Dana values practicing mindfulness and can often be found connecting inward while hanging out in her backyard hammock swing. In her free time she enjoys playing board games with her husband and 2 children, swimming, hiking, and attending musical theater productions.
