About Me

Dawn’s interest in nutrition began through a deeply personal experience. With a background in research, culinary arts, and creative arts, they found dietetics to be the perfect field to integrate all their passions and skills. The turning point came when a co-worker struggled to care for her seriously ill husband, overwhelmed by conflicting dietary advice for his cardiac, kidney, and GI conditions. Watching someone so capable feel helpless due to a lack of clear nutrition guidance inspired Dawn to pursue a career in helping others avoid that same confusion and fear.

Their training in Medical Nutrition Therapy supports clients with a variety of needs including chronic disease prevention and management. Dawn is especially passionate about working with individuals using GLP-1 receptor agonist drugs such as Wegovy and Zepbound, helping them navigate a new way of being, and build sustainable, healthy eating behaviors.

They also have a deep love for culinary nutrition and honoring cultural food traditions believing that what we eat should be nourishing, joyful, and culturally meaningful.

Dawn earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University, her Nutrition and Dietetics credentials from Virginia State University and completed a Master’s degree at the University of Rhode Island.

Outside of work, they are married to their second-grade sweetheart, enjoy urban gardening, are building an impressive concert t-shirt collection, and love collecting and preserving family recipes.
