About Me
Hello & Welcome...
Like many of you, I’ve faced struggles with mental health and witnessed others grapple with their challenges, including addiction. Since the age of eight, I’ve dealt with weight issues, disordered eating, eating disorders, and self-worth struggles. From my journey through mental health, weight shame, and addiction, I understand where you’re coming from.
I’m familiar with sobriety, depression, anxiety, fatigue, body aches, and the unhealthy cycles of guilt surrounding food and body image. Through my experiences, I’ve learned to embrace an unconventional approach to health and healing, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. These lessons have shaped my perspective, leading me to a path of healing and happiness—not just for myself but for you, too.
My Story
Life has never been easy. You never know when someone might receive a mental health diagnosis or endure discouraging comments about their weight, which can stem from genetics or circumstances. I’ve seen both sides from an early age, experiencing mental health issues, addiction, and disordered eating.
I’ve always been aware of my depression and anxiety, even before receiving a formal diagnosis. Growing up, mental health wasn’t a topic of discussion in my home, and I faced teasing and bullying about my weight from a young age. Many family members also struggled with mental health challenges, including OCD, depression, anxiety, and various forms of addiction, alongside issues related to body image.
In social situations, I turned to alcohol to alleviate my anxiety and mask my self-hate. I also restricted my food intake, trying to conform to society’s "thin" ideal. For years, I was misdiagnosed regarding my health conditions until I eventually discovered that I have PCOS and Hashimoto’s, both of which are interconnected with mental health and weight. Understanding these underlying factors has been freeing; it has illuminated the reasons behind my struggles with depression, anxiety, food restriction, and bingeing.
Without my journey, I wouldn’t be working in the health and wellness field today. I realized there must be a way to break the silence around these issues. Twenty-plus years after taking my first steps toward healing, I can affirm that community support and understanding are essential in overcoming life’s hurdles—and there’s no shame in seeking help.
Today, I apply my academic knowledge and personal experiences to assist adults facing mental health challenges, including sobriety, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, and more. As a clinical nutritionist and coach based in Hagerstown, Maryland, I’m dedicated to helping individuals relieve symptoms like fatigue, GI issues, skin issues, and body pain while fostering healthier relationships with food and their bodies.
The bottom line:
You shouldn’t feel exhausted, hungry, or alone on your journey. There’s so much you can do to support your body and thrive!
No matter where you are on your journey, I’m here for you. The best way to start is by booking a session!
