About Me
Emma believes everyone deserves to feel at home in their body and have a healthy relationship with food. She follows a non-diet, Health at Every Size approach in her work as a dietitian. Personally, she has experienced the power of a meaningful and positive relationship with the body through the principles of Intuitive Eating and her yoga practice.
Emma received her bachelor's degree in nutrition from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, and completed her dietetic internship at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Emma has experience treating clients with eating disorders at the Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient level of care. Emma takes a client-centered approach to nutrition counseling, taking care to integrate her client’s own values, goals, and motivations while working with them.
Emma also completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India, and teaches classes as a Certified Yoga Teacher at her local studio. She understands how crucial embodiment and mind-body practices can be when exploring relationships to food and/or body.
Outside of work you can find Emma enjoying the outdoors, attending live music events, searching for the perfect thrift find, finding any opportunity to dance, and struggling to keep her plants alive.
Emma is an LGBTQ+ friendly care provider.
*Please note, Emma is not accepting patients under 18 years old at this time.
Please see below to read Emma’s food philosophy: ~Everyone deserves to feel at home in their body, and at peace in their mind. ~Food and movement are as much about quality of life and enjoyment as they are about health. ~Health and well-being are more complex than the number on the scale. ~Food and movement are only two aspects of health. Rest, social connection, emotional wellness, environmental & financial safety and security, ability to cope with stress, and spiritual fulfillment are just as important to our health and well-being. ~Healthy behaviors, lifestyle, and relationship to food/body are more important than body shape or size. ~With healing, change, and growth, the process can sometimes be more important than the outcome. Progress is never linear. ~In this field there will always be more to learn and endless opportunities to grow. I am prepared to be a humble, life-long learner to provide my patients with the care they deserve.
