About Me
Genesis’s journey started in college when she switched her degree from nursing to nutrition as she realized nutrition is the best medicine there is followed by movement, good sleep, and stress management. After she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from University of Nevada, Reno, she joined AmeriCorps and spent some time teaching nutrition/gardening to low-income individuals at Clark County Food Bank. She then went on to complete a Master of Science in Nutrition from Concordia College, Moorhead where she learned the importance and necessity of leadership in both her professional and personal life. She is currently working with dialysis patients and helps them reach their health goals through creating awareness on how nutrition is a large part of their therapy and motivational interviewing.
Throughout her life, she has struggled with her own weight issues and even sought out a dietitian of her own to help her reach her goals. Along the way, she discovered the underlying cause of her struggles were due to having polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Since her diagnosis, she has done nonstop research and tried many methods to treat her symptoms, only to realize there is a lot of misinformation and ineffective methods on the internet. She has also learned how powerful hormones are and how hormonal imbalances can lead to other conditions, such as diabetes, neurological conditions, heart disease, and some cancers.
Her overall training and experience as a nutrition counselor and personal experience receiving counseling makes her extra empathetic towards her clients and their needs. She understands that the research is constantly changing, and her curious mind allows her to stay up to date with the latest research to provide the highest quality of care. It is her goal is to share her knowledge and use her skills to help clients understand themselves and take charge of their own health.
