My Journey Toward Health, Nutrition, and Wellness
Early Influences and Passion for Cooking
Michon’s passion for health and nutrition began early in life. She grew up in a household where physical activity was always encouraged and supported, and home-cooked family meals were the norm. Her grandmother was a significant inspiration for her love of cooking and food as she spent hours in the kitchen, watching and helping, gaining an appreciation for wholesome, homemade food. One of Michon’s personal goals is to encourage the lost art and joy of cooking, making it both fun and creative. Sharing a meal with family and friends is a meaningful way to connect and share our lives.
Personal Health Challenges and Discovering Natural Nutrition
Her son developed eczema at a very young age. Having suffered from allergies she understood the connection between allergies, eczema, and the potential development of asthma. Determined not to use steroid creams prescribed by his pediatrician, she began researching natural remedies for his eczema and exploring the connections between certain foods and these conditions.
This exploration sparked a fascination with natural ways to address common health problems and the critical relationship between food and wellness. Her research led to a deeper understanding of the power of real food and she replaced jarred baby food with pureed organic fruits and vegetables and changed her diet as well. Eliminating dairy products from their diets resulted in improved health for both.
Supporting Others
Combining her love of cooking with her growing thirst for nutritional knowledge, she began assisting friends and family with their nutrition questions, researching their concerns, and suggesting possible solutions. Michon found genuine joy in this work and realized that she loved supporting others in their journeys toward health and wellness.
Integrative Approach to Nutrition and Wellness
While there are basic, standard nutritional requirements, everyone is unique, with their own individual nutritional needs. Michon’s approach is to educate, empower, and encourage her clients in achieving their health and wellness goals. By working together as a team, she helps guide clients in developing and executing a personalized plan to optimize their health.
Michon takes an integrative approach to nutrition—one that goes beyond simply analyzing the nutritional value of food. This means considering the social, emotional, and psychological aspects of diet and nutrition. Food is only one part of what a person needs to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Her philosophy explores the connections between diet, movement, lifestyle, and emotions as they relate to food. True wellness encompasses all aspects of life, and her aim is to support each client on their unique path to well-being.
