About

Dr. Natalie Gordon is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician whose approach to medicine has been shaped by a lifelong commitment to serving others and making healthcare feel accessible, empowering, and personal.

As a first-generation college student, Dr. Gordon attended the University of Texas at Austin, where her interest in health, social inequality, and underserved communities helped shape her path toward medicine. Throughout her medical training, she had the opportunity to care for patients from diverse and underserved communities across the Caribbean and the United States. These experiences strengthened her belief that every patient deserves compassionate, high-quality healthcare regardless of their background or circumstances.

Dr. Gordon completed her Internal Medicine residency training in California, beginning her career as a physician during the COVID-19 pandemic. After several years away from Texas, she found herself missing her family and the community that had helped shape her. She ultimately returned home with the goal of providing care closer to the community where she grew up.

Over the next two years in primary care, Dr. Gordon cared for adults across many stages of life and from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, including patients with private insurance, Medicare, and those with limited or no insurance. She particularly enjoyed building long-term relationships with her patients and helping them understand how conditions such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol are interconnected.

Her passion for weight management became even more personal as she began navigating her own weight-loss journey. After experiencing personal challenges and loss while simultaneously caring for others, Dr. Gordon developed an even greater appreciation for how much our health is influenced by biology, environment, stress, lifestyle, and the circumstances of everyday life.

That experience has helped shape the way she talks about obesity with her patients. Rather than viewing weight as simply a matter of willpower, Dr. Gordon approaches obesity as a complex chronic disease influenced by underlying biology and metabolic health. Her training in Internal Medicine provides a foundation for helping patients understand not only how to lose weight, but what is happening within their bodies and how improving metabolic health can reduce their risk of chronic disease over time.

For Dr. Gordon, one of the most rewarding parts of medicine is the relationship she develops with her patients. She loves watching someone begin to understand their health differently, recognize their progress, and accomplish goals that once felt out of reach. She believes patients should feel supported rather than judged and empowered with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their health.

Her ultimate goal is not simply to help patients reach a number on the scale. She hopes to help them develop habits, knowledge, and confidence that continue to benefit their health long after they have stopped seeing her as their physician. Dr. Gordon believes the future of medicine lies increasingly in prevention, metabolic health, and longevity, and she plans to pursue board certification in Obesity Medicine in 2027 as she continues expanding her expertise in this area.
