About Me
Sonya's passion for nutrition began as a young teen while witnessing a close family member navigate nutrition related illness. Her feelings of helplessness, at the time, lead to curiosity about the impact of food on the human body. Sonya completed her BS and MS degrees in Human Nutrition at Winthrop University, South Carolina where she also went on to complete the Dietetic Internship.
Prior to becoming a registered dietitian, Sonya served in the US Army as an active duty Medic for 4 years. She feels her time spent in the military has played a pivotal role in developing her compassionate approach to wellness and her ability to adapt to individual client needs.
Sonya aims to help clients by bringing joy and ease to their eating experiences through a non-diet approach to nutrition. Her mission is to encourage clients to remove guilt/shame around food while guiding them toward curiosity. Sonya hopes her ability to get creative in the kitchen can help others feel more confident while planning their own meals and snacks.
