About
My name is Sophie Hung. I am a Registered Dietitian, Certified Personal Trainer, Lactation Consultant, and Pilates Instructor . I received my Bachelor of Science from UCLA and my Masters of Public Health in Nutrition from Loma Linda University. Over the past 14 years, I’ve helped thousands of busy professionals and older adults reverse type 2 diabetes, lower cholesterol, manage chronic kidney disease, and improve gut health.
I grew up in Hong Kong, came to the US when I was 14. I studied abroad in Spain, Mexico, Peru, and Argentina for a year. Besides English, I also speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish. Since food is so culturally connected, I love to work with people from different cultural background and explore different cultural foods.
I have a 6 to 12 months long VIP program called A Healthier You Journey since Health is not just a 30-day or 60-day challenge, but a lifelong journey. I went through my own health journey as well.
My family history includes stroke, diabetes, high cholesterol, endometriosis, and cancer, which once felt overwhelming. Instead of dwelling on genetics, I chose to focus on what I can control such as nutrition, exercise, stress, and lifestyle, which ultimately led me to study nutrition and fitness to help myself, my family, and others take charge of their health.
I’m inspired by the concept of “squaring the longevity curve”, staying strong and sharp for as long as possible with only a short decline near the end of life. My 83-year-old dad is my favorite example: through simple changes in diet, exercise, and lifestyle, he has taped off his medications for his diabetes and cholesterol by following a mostly plant-based diet, and still enjoys fun excursions when he goes on vacations with us.
My mission is to empower individuals with chronic conditions to thrive, not just survive, so they can stay independent, continue to travel, spend quality time with family, and enjoy life.
