About Me
Steph Wagner, MS, RDN/LDN, is a nationally recognized Registered Dietitian specializing in bariatric surgery nutrition. With over 14 years of experience, Steph is dedicated to supporting patients not only in the clinic but also in the moments between appointments—where the real day-to-day challenges of post-op life occur. Her passion lies in helping individuals navigate life after bariatric surgery with clarity, confidence, and community.
Steph’s journey in bariatric nutrition began in a clinical setting, but in 2016, she took a bold step by leaving the clinic to focus entirely on providing practical, accessible support for post-op patients. When clients joked they wanted to “put her in their pocket,” Steph and her husband (a web developer) built the next best thing: Bariatric Food Coach, the most comprehensive online bariatric nutrition library available today. Since its launch, over 9,000 members have joined her Premier Access Membership, finding recipes, education, tools, and ongoing support tailored to their unique journey.
Steph holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and a Master’s degree in Food and Nutrition. She is an active leader in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, serving in policy and advocacy roles within the Weight Management Practice Group. She is also a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Her work has been featured in trusted bariatric platforms including Baritastic, Celebrate Vitamins, and Obesity Help.
Steph’s approach is rooted in empathy, education, and empowerment. She understands that bariatric patients need more than generic advice—they need real-life tools, flexible strategies, and encouragement that fits their long-term goals and challenges. Her mission is to make sustainable success after surgery more accessible, supported, and enjoyable.
Based in Kansas City, Steph enjoys spending her free time with her family—building forts with her kids, going for bike rides, crafting, or relaxing by the fire pit with her husband on Friday nights.
