About Me

Zong's parents are Hmong Refugees from Laos who came to states in 1989 and have limited English. At 15-years-old, Zong was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes and hospitalized for a week. Due to his parents limited English and little knowledge regarding Western Healthcare, Zong was responsible to take lead of his health management. He quickly learned more about carbohydrate counting, Type One Diabetes, and about the United States health care system.

From this lived experience, he pursued an education and career to become a Registered Dietitian. He understands the difficulties of navigating through Western Healthcare and aims to bridge the gap between healthcare and patients. He has provided nutrition education and counseling to treat obesity, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal issues, eating disorder, bariatric, diabetes mellitus, malnutrition, bariatric, enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, and other acute and chronic diseases. Zong has worked in inpatient hospital settings and outpatient clinical settings. Additionally, he is bilingual in English and Hmong.

Zong's mission is to help improve others' health through nutrition, to meet patients where they are at, and to assist them in making healthy lifestyle choices.

During his free time, he likes to fish, hike, disc golf, bike, explore the outdoors, and watch football. Go Pack Go!
