About Me
Christy's passion is working closely with individuals to help them find balance between wellness and lifestyle. She believes in a holistic nutrition approach focusing on whole foods as the key to health and uses lifestyle medicine to interconnect nutrition with stress and mental health, activity and movement, sleep, and social connection for improved health status and longevity. While she has a background working in acute care providing medical nutrition therapy for the disease management of a variety of conditions including kidney, liver, and heart disease, gastrointestinal diseases and dysfunction, oncology, and bariatrics, she most enjoys pediatric and whole family nutrition.
She started her career in Los Angeles after graduating with a Masters in Science from California State University of Northridge and began working at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center where she completed her clinical rotation of her dietetic internship. She covered various hospital units including critical care, neonatal, transplant, and surgical units. After spending 5 years working in the inpatient hospital setting, she felt that she had gained the knowledge and experience to make a career move to outpatient nutrition to spend more quality time with patients. She has counseled patients with IBS and IBD, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, malnutrition, and has also gained a large amount of experience helping clients through weight management and pediatric nutrition. While she has spent the majority of her time in private nutrition consultation, she has also taught classes on specific health and nutrition topics including helping pioneer a course on whole food plant based eating co-taught with a lifestyle medicine physician. She also developed a pediatric nutrition curriculum focusing on nutrition for young kids. She currently continues to work part time as the team dietitian in a pediatric obesity prevention and management clinic.
In her time outside of work she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, and camping. At home she enjoys baking and experimenting in the kitchen. She is a mother to two young children who are taste testers for all of her recipes and accompany her on her outdoor adventures.
