Grace Bell
DCN, CNS, CDN, LDN
About
Prior to becoming a clinical nutritionist, Grace worked as a scenic artist painting the backdrops and stage sets for Broadway, The Metropolitan Opera, Movies, and Television. Grace’s initial interests as a nutrition professional were in mental health nutrition, disordered eating, and supporting the foster and adoption community in which she is involved. As her career and education progressed, her interest expanded to neurological conditions after her 3rd son was born with multiple genetic conditions that impact his nervous system. In her clinical practice, Grace has provided Medical Nutrition Therapy support for clients with a variety of conditions such as extreme selective eating/Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, c-PTSD/Depression/Anxiety/OCD, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, bariatric surgery, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), 22Q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, and Friedreich’s Ataxia. In addition to working with clients, Grace has had the pleasure of crafting several educational presentations for the American Nutrition Association (ANA) and presented for the Adoptive Foster Family Coalition of NY (AFFCNY).
Grace believes in taking a weight neutral approach to health because weight loss is often a secondary effect of improving our overall health. When working with clients, Grace’s approach includes nutrition education, understanding nutrition behaviors, and practical applications of nutrition recommendations all from a trauma-sensitive perspective. Food should provide a safe and nourishing experience, and this is why she helps clients choose “easy button” ways to improve their relationship with food and their overall health.
Grace graduated with a Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition (MSACN) from Northeast College of Health Sciences and a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition (DCN) from the University of Western States. Grace is a Certified Nutrition Specialist® (CNS), credentialed by the American Nutrition Association® through its Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists™ and a Licensed Dietician Nutritionist (LDN).
Outside of clinical practice, Grace enjoys spending quality time with her family, gardening, hiking, reading, knitting/crocheting, cooking, completing puzzles, and nerding out on clinical research.
