About Me
Katie graduated from UF with a BS in Food Science and Human Nutrition in 2002. Her dietetic internship training was completed at Emory University Hospital in 2003. From there, she spent the next 12 years working as a clinical dietitian providing Medical Nutrition Therapy in 2 of the largest teaching hospitals in the state of Florida: Shands Jacksonville and Tampa General Hospital. From outpatient counseling to ICU oversight, Katie has experiential knowledge in variety of disease states and medical conditions. Her passion extended to collaboration with medical residents and training dietetic interns during those years working in the hospitals.
After having her only son, she transitioned from hospital-based environments to community-based, working specifically in geriatrics for the past 4 years. This year, she became Board Certified as a Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition. She enjoys the opportunity for relationship-building and outcome assessment available in this environment. Witnessing the beneficial changes brought about via access to evidence-based- nutritional information, along with gentle encouragement, brings her immense personal joy and career satisfaction.
She strives to keep abreast of the most current science in GI, diabetes, kidney disease, healthy aging, and weight management. She feels her non-judgmental and weight-inclusive approach will help guide clients to gradual, sustainable lifestyle changes in order to foster a peaceful relationship with food while improving their health.
