About

Maketa Dixon, LDN, is a Licensed Nutritionist Professional in Maryland with over 15 years of experience in the field of gut health and nutrition. She has worked with a wide range of health concerns including cardiometabolic diseases (Type 2 Diabetes, High cholesterol, High Blood pressure) digestive disorders and autoimmune conditions. Combining her love for research and food, Maketa is dedicated to providing clients with the best possible guidance on their health journey.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Master’s degree in Nutrition from the University of Maryland Integrative Health. She is also a Functional Nutritionist, certified through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM).

Originally from Maryland, Maketa began her career in colon cancer research at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA, and later returned home to work at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the Adult and Children’s Gastroenterology Clinic, serving our nation’s heroes.

Her passion for nutrition was deeply influenced by her own cancer journey and six months of chemotherapy, which reshaped her perspective on health and healing. This personal experience fueled her commitment to the science of nutrition and inspired her exploration of Nutrigenomics—the study of how genetics influences nutrition and disease risk.

Maketa believes life is about passion and discovery, and she is motivated to use her knowledge and expertise to help others optimize their health and live with vitality.
