About

Hi, I’m Maria-Lourdes "Malou" Nichols, RDN, LD, CD. As a Functional Medicine Registered Dietitian with REV0lution Health, I help individuals achieve lasting wellness by addressing the root causes of health challenges through personalized nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and compassionate, science-based care. I specialize in eating behaviors and chronic conditions and take an intersectional, compassionate approach to supporting clients in reaching outcomes—such as more consistent eating patterns, improved digestive symptoms, and improved lab values from A1c to micronutrient levels—through practical, sustainable strategies tailored to their unique needs and lives.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

I center my work on supporting and empowering clients in a way that feels collaborative and affirming. Using active listening and motivational interviewing, I meet clients where they are and help them build sustainable habits. I also bring a “yes, and” mindset—blending creativity, adaptability, and encouragement—within a weight-inclusive, fat-positive space.

Specialties

I work with diabetes (type 2, prediabetes, impaired fasting glucose), PCOS, PMDD, digestion concerns, and high cholesterol. I also support clients navigating eating disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and hypermobility conditions. I’m passionate about inclusive care, including working with neurodivergent and gender-expansive individuals.

My Story

As a third-culture kid, I’m shaped by experiences across race, class, and gender, which deeply inform how I connect with clients. I bring over 15 years of clinical nutrition experience, primarily in outpatient care. My background includes working with military and Veteran populations, seeking to improve their relationship with food, body, and health.

My Approach

I believe each individual is the expert of their own lived experience, and approach our work as a partnership. I integrate practical nutrition guidance with psychoeducation and, when helpful, somatic (mind-body) tools to support lasting change. Above all, I aspire to help folks feel more at home in their bodies, their food choices, and their overall well-being.
