About Me
Melissa's passion for nutrition started at a young age with a pure love for food. After a brief sampling of work in the culinary field she discovered the field of nutrition and dietetics and decided to switch paths. Melissa completed her undergraduate degree in dietetics at the University of Delaware and a graduate degree in clinical nutrition from Rutgers University. Her career started in the acute care inpatient setting caring for patients with a wide range of medical/health conditions. This time allowed her to build a strong foundational understanding of various disease states and the associated complexities. About 5 years ago she transitioned to an outpatient setting working with the oncology population providing individual nutrition counseling to improve outcomes during treatment and beyond. The extended time in private practice has allowed Melissa to build a more in-depth understanding of each individual's needs. There is so much more to diet and nutrition than just the food and drink we put in our body. Melissa wants to help every person meet their unique health goals. She understands it is not always about the number on the scale, but rather how you are feeling on a daily basis. She uses an intuitive eating approach and a focus on improving the nutrient-density of the foods you consume.
