About
Shonni’s interest in nutrition began in her early 20s when she spent time living in Japan. She was fascinated by the Japanese approach to food and lifestyle; an abundance of fresh vegetables, fruit, soy, and fish, along with daily movement built naturally into everyday life through walking and biking. She became curious about how the foods we eat and the way we live can influence our health and well-being, and that curiosity ultimately led her to pursue a career in nutrition.
Shonni earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Brigham Young University, where she completed a competitive coordinated program that combined rigorous coursework with more than 1,000 hours of supervised practice and clinical internship experience. She also holds a certification in Adult Weight Management through the American Dietetic Association. Over the years, she has continued to expand her training in areas she is passionate about, including eating disorders, intuitive eating, and nutrition during perimenopause and menopause. She currently facilitates an eating disorder support group and also enjoys helping clients navigate digestive concerns such as IBS.
Shonni believes lasting change happens when clients are active participants in the process rather than simply being given a list of rules or instructions. Her approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. She helps clients uncover their own “why” (the deeper reasons they want to make a change) and then works with them to develop realistic strategies that fit their individual lives, preferences, and goals. She believes nutrition should support your life, not take it over, and she finds great joy in helping clients develop a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food and learn to appreciate and care for their bodies.
Shonni lives in Hawaii with her husband, four children (most of whom are now grown), and their two dogs. She loves being active and spending time outdoors and enjoys hiking, playing pickleball, surfing, and discovering great restaurants with friends. Her experiences living and traveling in different cultures have deepened her appreciation for the many ways people can enjoy food, movement, and a healthy lifestyle.
