About Me
At a young age, Skylar knew she wanted to help others and had an interest in nutrition and cooking. So, this field seemed like the perfect fit for her, and it sure was! After receiving a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Arizona, she moved to Nashville to complete her dietetic internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has now been a Registered Dietitian for over 8 years, with more than 6 years of experience in the outpatient setting providing nutrition counseling to diverse patient populations. Throughout this journey, she also discovered the healing capability of nutrition and lifestyle for her own body and underlying clinical imbalances after struggling with health issues which led her to further her education in functional medicine. She received a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine from University of Western States in Portland, Oregon in 2021.
Skylar uses a food-first approach, and greatly believes that nourishing food and a healthy lifestyle can play an important role in health and wellness. Her background can support clients with a variety of nutrition-related conditions or concerns by providing nutrition counseling and education for weight management, bariatrics, cardiometabolic health, disease prevention/wellness, autoimmune diseases, and gut health. Her mission is to help others improve and restore their overall health and wellbeing through the healing impact of nutrition and healthy, sustainable lifestyle.
Skylar currently resides in Anchorage, Alaska with her husband, son and two dogs. In her spare time, she loves to hike, be active and outdoors, explore, travel, cook, eat good food, and spend time with her family and friends.
