About Me

Hi I'm Taryn! I am a master's-level dietitian with specialized expertise in gastrointestinal disorders, substance abuse, women's health, and eating disorder treatment. As an individual living in a larger body with a late diagnosis of PCOS, I personally understand the challenges of not fitting society's narrow ideals of body standards. I've navigated the complexities of advocating for my health in various medical settings, and I know how frustrating it can be! This lived experience fuels my passion for providing inclusive and comprehensive care to all individuals, regardless of size, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity.

From an early age, many of us are exposed to the pervasive influence of diet culture—whether it's from our immediate environment or the media. The constant barrage of new diets, quick fixes, and "magic pills" can feel overwhelming and disheartening. It's easy to become lost in a sea of conflicting information and wonder, "What should I believe when there's so much uncertainty online?". The fear and anxiety surrounding certain foods, often fueled by sensationalized media headlines, can leave us second-guessing our choices. If you've ever experienced fear, anxiety, or shame around food, know that you are not alone. I am here to guide you through the overwhelming landscape of media misinformation and help you rebuild a positive, sustainable relationship with food and your body, grounded in an anti-diet, Health at Every Size (HAES) approach.

On a lighter note, I proudly identify as an “elder emo/goth,” and you’ll almost always find me in all black or experimenting with new makeup styles (I've even dabbled in special effects makeup!). I find joy in gardening, traveling, attending concerts, and painting. While I’m a die-hard metal fan (you’ll likely spot a few band references in my tattoos), I’m always up for attending any show, no matter the genre. I’m constantly planning my next adventure—my ultimate escapade is to trek the Himalayan Mountains and explore the world’s tallest peaks (don't worry, I won’t be summiting Mount Everest or visiting any “death zones”—where there’s not enough oxygen for humans). And of course, you’ll likely meet my two cats, Pork and Beans, who love to make appearances—especially Beans, who’s always ready to be the center of attention!
