About Me
My name is Emily (she/her) and I'm a non-diet, Health at Every Size (HAES) registered dietitian. I am someone who has always loved food and had an interest in cooking from a young age. I didn't know I wanted to become a dietitian until college. I studied public health in undergrad at DePaul University which led me to learn about the career path that would combine my passions for food and helping people. After graduating, I went on to complete my dietetics program at Dominican University.
I've been a dietitian for over 8 years and have done one on one nutrition counseling since becoming a dietitian. I knew I would enjoy supporting clients in improving their health and well-being. The idea of working with a dietitian can feel daunting to a lot of people, but I aim to provide a safe space where you can be yourself and feel comfortable talking about your relationship with food and the challenges that come up with food and your health. Sometimes clients call me their food therapist. I think that's because it can be unexpected how connected our behaviors with food are to what we are feeling and thinking. I'm here to listen and offer non-judgmental guidance.
I believe focusing on your health and nutrition can be valuable and life-enhancing, but it does not need to be at the center of your life. I use the approaches of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size to help you connect with and listen to your body, have more kindness towards your body and feel a sense of ease and trust with food.
If you're wanting to imagine what your life could be like without dieting or restrictive rules around food, then I'm the dietitian for you.
