About Me

Jessica Vatel is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist. Jessica fell in love with nutrition in her mother’s garden as a child and her health education is informed by her early careers as a professional modern dancer and personal trainer. Being submersed in dance and fitness she was keenly aware of what it feels like to be uncomfortable in one’s body due to societal pressures and unreachable ideals. Ultimately this discomfort lead her to seek out a career in nutrition.

Jessica approaches nutrition counseling from many lenses. From a dance perspective she encourages clients to share about their community, culture and life experiences so she can provide feedback that encompasses who they are. As a working mother, and wife she understand the complexities her clients face when juggling careers, families and their eating. Her experience as a personal trainer informs her recommendations for balancing nutrition with activity and well-being.

Her goal is to view her clients as uniquely important individuals and nurture their growth through relationship building, supportive education and compassionate guidance. Jessica works with clients dealing with complex diagnosis which can feel overwhelming and unmanageable. She is well versed in helping clients manage chronic illness and achieve their health goals.

As a certified diabetes care and education specialist she helps clients break down the components of managing diabetes into smaller, more manageable topics, allowing them to achieve lower A1C levels without feeling restricted in their eating or life. She has in-depth experience counseling clients living with prediabetes, hypertension, heart disease, thyroid diseases, individuals seeking support with weight concerns, and nutrition counseling for, general wellness, healthy aging and women’s health.
